The newly elected leadership of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) called on the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif to formally introduce themselves to him at a short ceremony at the conference room of the Ministry on Thursday February 17 2022.

Welcoming the new executives, the Minister assured them of his commitment to support the GBA to make boxing a house hold name in Ghana.

Hon.Mustapha Ussif (MP) noted that he was overwhelmed with the steps taken by the new executives within their short period in office to have been able to secure two brand new cars as a sponsorship package for the best boxer and best gym for the upcoming boxing league.

He said that he was excited to ensure that the discipline takes its right place in Ghana’s Sports.

He further noted that Sports is not just a source of entertainment and exercise but a career and commercial venture and an economic vehicle for the country.

He charged the President of the GBA to leave a clear footprint for others to follow and ensure the development of the sport.

On his part, the President of the GBA, Mr. Abraham Kotei Neequaye expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his advice and warm reception and pleaded with him to extend enough support for the sport.

He used the opportunity to invite the Hon Minister to grace the occasion on the launch of the 2022 boxing league on Saturday February 19, 2022 at the Bukom boxing arena.

He further stated that GBA and IMAX Media Group have signed a lucrative $1,700,000 agreement to stage a 5 year boxing league which will include juveniles and amateur boxers across the 16 Regions of the country.

He indicated that the GBA Boxing League would support boxing promoters and managers in creating more champions for Ghana to elevate the sport on thge international scene.

The team presented a title Belt to the Minister for his passion and unrelenting support for the discipline.
